Reading, Pa. - Wednesday evening Alvernia University senior Shane Zellers (Wiconisco, Pa./Williams Valley) was at home thinking about his next start for his summer league baseball team. Thursday morning he was on a plane to New England to join the Vermont Lake Monsters, a minor league affiliate of the Washington Nationals and members of the New York-Penn League.

The Middle Atlantic Conference announces its annual sportsmanship teams for the spring 2010 conference sports. These teams include a player from each conference school who has demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship through their actions on and off the field during the season. The players are selected by the players and coaches from their respective schools.

Reading, Pa.- Alvernia University senior Shane Zellers (Wiconisco, Pa./Williams Valley) was named Second Team All-American by the website D3baseball.com on Wednesday. Zellers is the third Crusaders to be honored by D3baseball.com. Zach Lutz was the 2007 Player of the Year and Dale Curry was Third Team in 2008.

Trenton, N.J. – Junior righty Chuck Nicholas (Boyertown, Pa./Boyertown) threw eight strong innings with 10 strikeouts leading fourth seeded Alvernia University (33-11) to a 7-3 win over #8 Moravian College (26-15) Thursday morning in the first elimination game of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Baseball Regional at Waterfront Park.

Annville, Pa. - The Middle Atlantic Conference announces the 2010 baseball all-conference teams for the Commonwealth and Freedom Conferences.

BOYERTOWN, Pa. – After falling in the Freedom Conference championship game in each of its first two seasons with the conference, the Manhattanville baseball team found out that the third time was definitely the charm on Sunday afternoon as the third-seeded Valiants used a five-run seventh inning to finally put away second-seeded FDU-Florham, 10-3, and win the program’s first-ever Freedom Conference Championship at Bear Stadium.
