WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Before the season even started, the Lycoming College athletic program was dealt a tough loss on Saturday, Aug. 28, when longtime public address announcer Dick Zimmerman passed away at age 73. Zimmerman had served as the Warriors’ PA announcer for the past 37 years, joining legendary coach Frank Girardi in his first year on the corner of Packer and Mulberry streets.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson Director of Athletics Brett Adams announced on Friday that the university's newly-formed football team, which will take the field for the first time next Thursday, August 12 at 2:00p.m., has accepted an offer from the Middle Atlantic Conference to join as an associate member beginning with the school's inaugural season in 2011.

READING, Pa. - On Wednesday, senior place kicker John Whelan was named to the Watch List for the Fred Mitchell Award. This list includes the names of 40 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), Division II, III and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) collegiate place-kickers that were nominated by their colleges for excellence on the football field and in the community. 

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College senior linebacker Kyle Gesswein and senior offensive lineman Mike Long have been named first team preseason All-Americans by D3football.com. 

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley College’s Arnold Field will host a high school camp with all-Pro guard Jahri Evans and teammate Carl Nicks of the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints this Saturday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College football team is ranked seventh in the Division III Top 25 preseason polls in both The Sporting News and Lindy’s college football preseason publications. In addition, senior linebacker linebacker Kyle Gesswein was named to both preseason All-America Teams while senior offensive lineman Mike Long earned a spot on Lindy’s squad. 

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Junior Justin Lee of the football and track & field teams and junior Emily Hopkins of the volleyball team have been selected to leadership positions with the Lebanon Valley College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Lee has been selected to represent the Middle Atlantic Conference on the national level, while Hopkins has been elected president of the conference's SAAC.
