8.27.2010 | Men's Lacrosse

Reading, Pa.- Alvernia University Director of Athletics Bill Stiles announced Friday the hiring of Rich Carrington as the new head coach of Men's Lacrosse. Carrington joins the staff after building the program at Chestnut Hill College and takes over for seven-year head coach Kevin Meany.

READING, Pa. - Albright College President Lex O. McMillan III, Ph.D., announced that the college will add a varsity men’s and women’s lacrosse program beginning in the fall of 2011. This addition brings the total number of Albright varsity teams that compete at the NCAA Division III level to 23.

The Middle Atlantic Conference announces its annual sportsmanship teams for the spring 2010 conference sports. These teams include a player from each conference school who has demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship through their actions on and off the field during the season. The players are selected by the players and coaches from their respective schools.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior attack Aaron Weber has been named honorable mention Division III All-America as well as a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, the USILA announced Wednesday.

Annville, Pa. - The top honors for 2010 MAC men's lacrosse went to Elizabethtown College midfielder Aaron Weber as Player of the Year, Widener University head coach Jamie Lockard for the league's top coaching award, and Rookie of the Year Brian Gill from Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham.

MADISON, NJ - Senior attack Kevin Shadiack (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) notched four goals and two assists while senior goalkeeper Alex Kajencki (Medfield, MA/Xaverian) played stellar in goal making seven saves as the second-seeded College at Florham Devils knocked off fifth-seeded Messiah, 9-4, in the Semifinals of the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament on Wednesday evening.

Saint Davids, PA — Déjà vu? Brent Stewart thought otherwise. The senior’s goal with 1:14 remaining in overtime pushed Messiah to a 10-9 MAC Tournament win at Eastern University Monday, washing away any thoughts of a repeat performance from just 48 hours earlier: Messiah had dropped a 9-3 decision at Eastern Saturday afternoon, setting up Monday’s instant re-match on Olson Field in one of the MAC Quarter-Finals.

Widener received many strong efforts, including extremely valuable play from sophomore Nick Fluharty (West Grove, PA) in a 14-10 upset of Lycoming in the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference Tournament in Williamsport, PA.
