WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Down a goal and to only 10 men after a red card early in the second half, the Lycoming College men’s soccer team got a needed boost from sophomore Jimmy Deasel (Kingsville, Md./Loyola Blakefield), who scored two goals in a span of two minutes to lead the Warriors to a 3-2 upset win over defending Freedom Conference champion Misericordia at the Shangraw Athletic Complex on Sept. 1.

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – For the third time in head men’s soccer coach Scott Kennell’s 11-year tenure, the Lycoming College men’s team will take a trip to Europe to play four matches, hold several training sessions and do a little sight-seeing overseas. Joining the men’s team for the first time will be the Joe Balduino-led women’s soccer squad, as the two teams will embark on an 11-day tour of Scotland, England and Ireland on Thursday, July 29 when they depart JFK International Airport for Europe.

Philadelphia, PA — Junior Geoff Pezon earned National Soccer Coaches Association of American/Adidas First Team All-American status and Messiah head coach Brad McCarty was named the 2010 NSCAA NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Coach of the Year at last weekend’s NSCAA Convention at the Marriott Grand Ballroom in Philadelphia.

Messiah claimed a 2-0 win over Calvin College in the 2009 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Championship, taking control early en route to the program’s seventh national title in the last 10 seasons – far and away an NCAA Division III all-time best.
