WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After a distinguished career in the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Leroy Baer began a return to the sport that he loved from his youth - tennis. Now Baer will embark on a new challenge in this second career, as he was named the head coach of Lycoming College’s men’s and women’s tennis programs, Director of Athletics Scott Kennell announced on Friday.

The Middle Atlantic Conference announces its annual sportsmanship teams for the spring 2010 conference sports. These teams include a player from each conference school who has demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship through their actions on and off the field during the season. The players are selected by the players and coaches from their respective schools.

LANCASTER, Pa. – Don’t call it a comeback, they were there the whole time. After going down 4-1, the Lycoming College men’s tennis team rallied to win the 2010 Commonwealth Conference title 5-4 over Elizabethtown College on Saturday, May 8. Junior Alex Beattie was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player as head coach John Dorner won his first title.

The Wilkes University men’s tennis team will be making its third-straight trip to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Manhattanville in the finals of the Freedom Conference Team Championship. Despite losing two-of-three doubles matches, the Colonels came back to win 5-3.

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College advanced to the Commonwealth Conference men's tennis championship match with a 5-1 victory over defending champion Lebanon Valley College in semifinal action Wednesday afternoon.

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The second-seeded Manhattanville men’s tennis team made its way back to the Freedom Conference Tournament Championship match for the second straight year on Wednesday afternoon, as the Valiants eased by third-seeded Misericordia University in a 5-0 victory in the tournament semifinals at the Manhattanville Courts.

Lycoming advances to the finals for the first time under head coach John Dorner.

EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore Michael Capozzi (Santo Domingo, D.R.) and freshmen Andres Rivera (San Juan, Puerto Rico) and Karim Mahmoud (Cairo, Egypt) all were dual winners as Manhattanville took six of nine titles at the MAC Men’s Tennis Individual Tournament, which concluded on Sunday afternoon at Kirby Park and the Ralston Courts.

Jeremy Nolt and Wes McCollum won individual titles in singles play at the MAC Tennis Tournament hosted by Wilkes University.
