Kennell, who is Lycoming soccer’s all-time winningest coach and the College’s assistant athletic director, more than doubled his win total from 2006 while simultaneously joining the more competitive Commonwealth arm of the Middle Atlantic Conference.
Senior Patrick Lenehan, from Messiah, was named to the First Team All-Commonwealth Conference team for the third straight year. The forward has had an excellent season as he has been in the best form of his career as of late. Lenehan has been an offensive juggernaut throughout the year as he currently leads the team in goals (12), assists (10), and points (34).
Elizabethtown senior George Severini leads the Commonwealth Conference with 15 goals and ranks second with 32 points. He posted four two-goal games and scored four game-winning goals for the Blue Jays.
Sophomore forward Chris Lorenzet’s team-high ten goals and 25 points for Lycoming were the result of impressive moves and an ability to score from anywhere in an opponent’s territory. His goals total tied him for fourth in the conference and earned him one of three first-team forward spots.
Dan Visser was named to the First Team All-Conference for the second straight year. As Messiah's defensive midfielder, Visser has determined much of the success of this past campaign. The senior is a steadying influence both offensively and defensively. He is tied for second on the team in assists (5) and has scored a single goal.
Michael Terry is a repeat First Team selection and is All-Conference for the third time in his career. The Elizabethtown senior scored four goals and added an assist for nine points while regularly playing all 90 minutes at his center midfield position.
Lycoming’s junior midfielder Matt Frey showcased raw speed and highlight-reel moves on the outside, earning him Lycoming’s fourth first-team placement. Frey compiled a team-high eight assists in 2007 and placed third on the Warriors with 14 points. Frey’s aggressive play kept opponents on their heels all year. He was Lycoming’s only all-conference selection in 2006.
Junior Wes Bunting is also a repeat selection to the first team after starting all 20 games at center back for the Blue Jays and scoring two goals and four assists for eight points.
One of the most influential players on the 2007 Messiah team is centerback J.D. Binger who also was named to the First Team. The junior defender is a force both in the air and on the ground as he makes life difficult for opposing forwards. This is Binger's second time on the All-Conference squad.
Senior defender Zach Tanner was a Lycoming captain and a beast in the backfield for the Warriors. Tanner notched two goals and one assist on the year.
Senior Ryan Humphreys earned the sole goalkeeping spot on the All-Commonwealth first team. Humphreys was the Commonwealth’s defensive player of the week in late-September for back-to-back shutouts of Juniata and King’s. He recorded five shutouts on the season and 62 saves on his way to a 13-5-1 record for Lycoming.
First year player Nick Thompson entered Messiah's program as a centerback but halfway through the season was inserted at target. As a result he provided the Falcons with the ability to maintain possession as well as score goals. Thompson currently has 6 goals and 2 assists for 14 points on the season earning him a spot on the Second Team..
Matt Diller scored 11 goals, including five game-winners, and added four assists for 26 points for Elizabethtown. Through the end of the conference playoffs, the junior ranked third in the Commonwealth Conference in both goals and points.
Blue Jay junior Bryan Holt started all 20 games at center midfield and finished with a goal and two assists for four points. His goal was a game-winner in a 1-0 win over Drew University on Sept. 13.
Junior midfielder Joe Pusateri was named to the All-Commonwealth Second Team. He was third on Lycoming in assists, fourth in goals, fifth in points and he started every game for the Warriors.
Second on the team in points with 12 (3 goals, 6 assists), Widener senior midfielder Frank Nolan earns his first conference season honor.
Senior defender Mike Helsel finished with two goals and seven assists for 11 points while playing all 20 games for the Blue Jays.
Helping Messiah post an amazing 14 shutouts for the season are outside backs Josh Mull and Eric Frey. Both defenders were named to the Second Team All-Commonwealth Conference. Sophomore Josh Mull was inserted into the lineup at left back early in the season has had a tremendous impact on Messiah's ability to defend well and attack with precision.
Fifth year senior Eric Frey decided to come back for a final campaign after having a medical redshirt earlier in his career and the decision paid off. Frey started his excellent play last year in the Falcons NCAA tournament run and his steady play and quality service from the flank (3 assists) has been a highlight for Messiah.
Two game winning goals, 10 total points and an outstanding defensive year earned Maarten Koostra, a junior from Albright, the first All-Conference honor of his career.
Zach Galbraith started 19 games as a senior at right back and finished with three assists while helping the Blue Jay defense limit opponents to 16 goals in 20 matches while recording 10 shutouts.
