LANCASTER, Pa. --- For the second consecutive year, Elizabethtown College finished first at the Battle for the Buggy men's cross country meet, which the Blue Jays co-hosted with Millersville University at Lancaster County Central Park on Saturday morning.
The Blue Jays, ranked 28th in Division III, finished with 49 points to defeat the Shippensburg University "B" team by six points. Salisbury University (107 points), Gwynedd-Mercy College (123 points) and the Elizabethtown alumni team (126 points) rounded out the top five in the field of 17 schools.
Eric Reichert finished second overall in a field of 123 runners with a time of 20:12.95, while Colby Miller took sixth in 20:42.21. Myles Lund was 11th in 20:57.33 and Evan DeArmitt finished immediately behind him in 12th at 21:02.80. Charlie Larsen was the fifth and final scorer in the Blue Jay lineup, coming in 19th with a time of 21:14.47.
Among the Blue Jay alumni that competed, Greg Wetzel '06 was the top finisher as he covered the slightly more than 6,000-meter course in a time of 20:28.23 and finished fourth, while Ryan St. Clair '09 was ninth in 20:50.25.
