FORT INDIANTOWN GAP, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's cross country team opened its 2009 season with a second-place finish at the Lebanon Valley College Invitational, held Saturday at Memorial Lake State Park.
The Blue Jays tallied 48 points as a team to trail only Roanoke College (42 points) in the final standings. A total of seven schools competed at the meet.
Megan VanDenHengel was Elizabethtown's top finisher as she took second place with a time of 19:56.26 over the 5,000-meter course. Taryn Shank was eighth in 21:10.85, followed by Kathryn Howser in 11th in 21:45.34. Rounding out the scoring for the Blue Jays were Teresa Beshore in 13th at 21:59.18, and Sarah Merusi in 14th at 22:00.33.
