SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's track and field team competed at the Susquehanna University Orange & Maroon Classic Saturday afternoon, posting 17 top-10 finishes during the non-scoring meet.
Tim Katzaman broke his own school record in the weight throw by just over three feet, becoming the first Blue Jay to crack the 40-feet milestone as he took fourth with a mark of 41 feet, 9 1/4 inches (12.73 meters). He set the previous mark of 38 feet, 9 inches at Susquehanna on Feb. 21 of last season. He also placed sixth in the shot put and moved into second place on the program's all-time list with a heave of 40 feet, 6 inches (12.34 meters).
On the track, Rich Greco won the 5000 meters with a time of 16:08.31, followed in fifth place by Adam Derkacz (16:31.97) and Myles Lund in eighth place (16:40.75). Colby Miller finished fourth in the 3000 meters (9:06.15) while in the 800 meters the Blue Jays received top-10 finishes from Russell Speiden (fifth in 2:01.19), Mark Weber (sixth in 2:01.93) and Aaron Focht (ninth in 2:02.94).
Evan DeArmitt finished third in the mile with a time of 4:26.12, moving him into eighth place on the program's all-time list. Brandon Walters was eighth in the 55 meters with a time of 6.87 seconds in preliminaries, good for ninth place on the program's all-time list.
In the 400 meters, Luke Rotenberger placed sixth with a time of 53.08 seconds, while Chris Niles was 10th with a time of 53.61 seconds.
In jumps, Wyatt Eaton was sixth in the long jump at 20 feet, 7 1/4 inches (6.29 meters) while Cameron Aregood finished sixth in the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches (1.78 meters).
The 4x400-meter relay of Kyle Grimm, Walters, Eaton and Rotenberger finished second with a time of 3:31.53, while the 4x200-meter relay team of Walters, Eaton, Mike Mauger and Pat Doughty was second in 1:34.59, placing the squad ninth on the program's all-time list.
