Aggie Women Win First-Ever Indoor Invitational Title, Men Place Second

READING (PA) – The Delaware Valley College women’s indoor track and field team captured its first-ever invitational title as the Aggies topped four other squads at the Albright College Indoor Invitational while the men placed second out of six teams. 

The Delaware Valley women racked up 141 points, eight more than the host Lions. Alvernia University was third with 48 points while Middlesex Community College (16 points) and Penn State Berks (8) rounded out the field. On the men side, the Aggies’ 130 points was eight shy of Albright’s 138 while Middlesex (61), Alvernia (33), and Widener University (20) and Penn State Berks (14) followed them in the standings.

Delaware Valley had a grand total of 10 individual champions at the event, including seven on the women’s side. Caitlin Dorgan had two of those crows as the junior took top honors in both the 800-meter run (2:34.83) and the 1-mile run (5:42.12). Jennifer Alderfer and Amanda Barr finished first in the 200-meter run (28.57) and 55-meter hurdles (10.69) respectively while Alisha Jordan and Rachelle Salem led the way n the 3,000-meter run (12:21.68) and the shot put (30-7.5) respectively. Meghan Donovan, an outdoor national qualifier, was tops in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 5 feet, 2 inches.

The men received individual titles from Chip Brumbaugh, Tom Masterson and Travis Pitts. Brumbaugh ran the 1-mile run in 4 minutes, 51.41 seconds while Masterson recorded a long jump of 21 feet, 4 inches. Pitts topped the 55-meter dash field as he crossed the finish line in 6.75 seconds.
