WILKES-BARRE – King’s College director of intercollegiate athletics and recreation Cheryl Ish has announced the appointment of Frank Carrozza as the new head coach of the college’s women’s soccer team.

Carrozza comes to King’s after serving as the assistant women’s soccer coach at Misericordia University in Dallas the past four seasons. While at Misericordia, Carrozza was involved in all aspects of the Cougar program, including practice planning, scheduling, player instruction and development, recruiting, budget management, and travel.

As a four-year starter at Misericordia from 1999-2002, he helped the team to a 19-2 record, a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, and a NCAA Division III National Tournament berth in 2000. He also earned All-Pennsylvania Athletic Conference during his career in the 2001 and 2002 campaigns.

As an assistant women’s coach at Misericordia, he helped the Cougars to a 2006 Pennsylvania Athletic Conference championship and an NCAA Division III national tournament berth. In 2007, Misericordia advanced to the PAC semi-finals and then received a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Southern Region Championships. After Misericordia joined the Middle Atlantic Conferences in 2008, the Cougars reached the post-season in just their second season in the league.

“We are very excited to have Frank take over the women’s soccer program here at King’s as he brings not only a strong background in the sport, he also has a tremendous desire to be successful,” Ish stated. “Frank has great energy and drive and we believe those attributes will carry over to the players and also into recruiting players to the program. He is a real go-getter and will bring a work-ethic and winning attitude that will be extremely important in helping our program continue to develop.”

Carrozza was also the head boys' soccer coach at Lake Lehman High School prior to working one season as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Misericordia in 2003.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management from Misericordia in 2003 and is in the process of attaining a Master of Science degree in Sport and Recreation Management.

Carrozza has received several licenses from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He owns a Premier Coaching License, a Director of Coaching License, a State Goalkeeping License, a Youth National Coaching License, and a High School Coaching License. Additionally, he is a NSCAA Associate Staff Coach.

“I am very excited to have been hired as head women's soccer coach at King's College,” Carrozza stated. “I look forward to giving the program a new direction and becoming a highly competitive program in the Freedom Conference. Our current goals are to increase our numbers and put in some quality training time as we look toward the future. Our focus will be on growth and development as we begin to re-shape the program. The team has some quality young players and we will do all we can to further develop the players we have while bringing in recruits who will be able to fit in and contribute.”

A native of Orange County, NY, Carrozza graduated from Minisink Valley High School where he helped the Warriors claim two conference titles while being selected to the Orange County All-Conference team.

At King’s he will take over a youthful, improving Lady Monarch program that went 5-14 last season and graduates only three seniors from its roster. The Lady Monarchs will return their top three scorers, including standout forward Becky Chateauneuf who tallied 30 points on 14 goals and two assists. After two season, Chateauneuf has totaled 53 points on 25 goals and three assists and is a two-time All-Freedom Conference selection.
