Men's Basketball Escapes with 69-68 Victory Over Arcadia

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Johnathan Williams scored 11 points and had four assists.The Lycoming College men’s basketball team escaped with a 69-68 win over Arcadia University on Sunday, Feb. 7. The game was close throughout, with 13 ties and 16 lead changes. Junior forward Will Kelly put up 20 points. 

The Warriors (17-4, 7-3) started the game off with a 7-2 lead, but the Knights knotted the action at seven. The score was tied six times in the first half, and had seven lead changes. Arcadia had a 30-29 lead at halftime. Mike Bradley led the Lycoming scoring in the first half, scoring nine points in nine minutes of play. Kelly scored six points and grabbed three rebounds. Freshman Ihsaan Davis also grabbed three boards.

Lycoming’s high-octane press forced Arcadia (6-14, 0-10) into 15 first half turnovers, allowing the Warriors to score 12 points on turnovers. Freshman Jerald Jerald Williams finished the half with three steals.

In the second half, two Warriors posted double-digit points. After going two-for-nine in the first half, Kelly honed his shooting, putting up 14 points, going four of eight from the field. He also had three offensive rebounds. Johnathan Williams tallied 10 points and dished out three assists. Bradley was big on the glass, grabbing five rebounds.

Kelly finished the game with 20 points and six rebounds, all of which were on offense. Bradley posted 15 points, while he and Davis each had a team-high seven boards. Johnathan Williams had 11 points and four assists. Jerald Williams finished with six points and five steals.
 

Lycoming shot at a 39.7 percent clip, hitting 25 of its 63 attempts from the floor. The Warriors tallied 12 steals, forcing the Knights’ into 23 turnovers.

Arcadia’s Khalief Trawick tallied a game-high 24 points, follow by Darrell Mills’ 15 and Jose Ortiz’s 13 points. Mills had the game-high in rebounds with 13. The Knights outrebounded Lycoming 48-39.

The Warriors are on the road for their next game on Wednesday, Feb. 10 when they head to Elizabethtown College for a crucial Commonwealth Conference game. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. following a women’s game.

Notes: Lycoming is 8-2 all-time versus Arcadia … The Warriors sweep the season series ... this is the first time Lycoming has swept a series under head coach Guy Rancourt
