Rancourt Named D3hoops.com Middle Atlantic Region Coach of the Year

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Guy Rancourt, Lycoming College's second-year head men's basketball coach, has been named D3hoops.com Middle Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. The Warriors finished the 2009-10 campaign 21-7 overall and 10-4 in the Commonwealth Conference. Rancourt led the squad to the title game of the conference's tournament as the No. 1 seed and an at-large bid to the NCAA Division III men’s basketball tournament. 

Rancourt, who also was named the Commonwealth Conference’s Coach of the Year, guided the program to its first 20-plus win season in six years. He coached several players to post-season accolades, including freshman Jerald Williams, who was tabbed the Commonwealth’s Rookie of the Year. He averaged 7.0 points per game and a team-high 5.3 assists an outing. He also led the squad in steals per game at 3.0, which ranked seventh nationally. Senior guard Eric Anthony earned first-team All-Conference honors after averaging 15.4 points per game. He also hit a team-high 58 3-pointers. At the free throw line, Anthony was 107-119 (89.9 percent), which ranked No. 6 in the nation. Junior forward Will Kelly was selected as a All-Commonwealth second-team selection after leading the squad in scoring (15.6 ppg) and rebounding (7.1 rpg).

In 2008-09, Rancourt and the Warriors finished 11-13 overall and 4-8 in the conference.
