Chester, PA (March 27, 2010) – Freshman Jose Santiago and senior Steve Modrow (Forty Fort, PA/Wyoming Valley West) each took home first place finishes on Saturday afternoon at the Widener University Invitational.
Santiago was first in both the discus (46.05m) and the hammer throw (53.13m), while Modrow took home first place in the shot put (14.43m). Also finishing among the top 10 in an event were junior Ken Devens (Vernon, NJ/Vernon Township) taking fifth in the hammer throw (48.18m), sophomore Hank Miller (Hamburg, PA/Hamburg) taking seventh in the hammer throw (44.20m), and senior Justin Del Piano (Monmouth Junction, NJ/South Brunswick) taking ninth in the javelin (54.39m).
Freshman Brandon Esterly (Reading, PA/Muhlenberg) was eighth in the triple jump (12.51m) and sophomore Andrew MacNiven (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) was ninth in the triple jump (12.30m).
In the running events, junior Mike Curry (Kennett Square, PA/Salesianum) was seventh in the 1,500-meters (4:04.56), freshman Neal Fox (Adamstown, PA/Lancaster Catholic) was ninth in the 110-meter hurdles (16.03), junior Paul Ecker (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) was fifth in the 800-meters (1:56.67), and senior Andrew Ferretti (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
The Bulldogs return to action next Saturday when they travel to the Muhlenberg College Invitational on Saturday, April 3rd.
