Reading, Pa.- Alvernia University senior Shane Zellers (Wiconisco, Pa./Williams Valley) was named Second Team All-American by the website D3baseball.com on Wednesday. Zellers is the third Crusaders to be honored by D3baseball.com. Zach Lutz was the 2007 Player of the Year and Dale Curry was Third Team in 2008.

Zellers, a two-time conference Pitcher of the Year, went 8-2 in his senior campaign with a 2.33 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 72 and two-thirds innings. Zellers threw three complete games this season with one shutout. He was recently named First Team All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and will be eligible for ABCA All-American honors announced later this week at the Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisc.
