Cougars Women's Tennis Sweeps King's, Advance to Freedom Finals

The Misericordia University women's tennis team advanced to the Freedom Conference championship match for the second straight year with a 5-0 win over King's, Tuesday.

The Cougars swept the doubles matches and took the first two singles matches before the match was halted.

Abby Searfoss and Ashley Mangabang were 8-4 winners at first doubles and Maura Haupt and Courtney Otto won 8-1 at second doubles.

Lauren Verret and Jennifer Spott made it 3-0 with a 9-8 (7-5) win at third doubles.

Searfoss won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles an Haupt clinched the win with a 7-5, 6-2 victory at number-two.

The Cougars will play at Wilkes in the Freedom championship match, Saturday.
