Widener junior Kate Dellinger (Wrightsville, PA) was tabbed named first team Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District for women’s basketball, one year after being picked second team.

Dellinger now becomes eligible for the Academic All-America Teams, which will be announced February 21.

It has been yet another standout campaign for Dellinger, who is tied for first in the Commonwealth Conference and 80th in the country with 2.9 steals per game. She also is first in the league with 15.0 points per game, seventh with 7.4 rebounds per contest, 15th with a .355 shooting percentage, tied for 14th with 2.2 assists per game, 10th with a .742 free throw percentage and second with 32.3 minutes per contest.

One of the top shooters and hardest-working players in the league, she has scored at least 20 points four times this season and has four double-doubles. This includes a career-best 31 points to go with 11 rebounds December 10 at Eastern. Dellinger has 12 double-doubles in her career.

Last season, Dellinger was picked first team all-conference, second team All-ECAC South Region and was a member of the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. She led the Pride with 17.1 points per game, 7.8 rebounds per contest, 40 steals and an .820 free throw percentage, but did not qualify for the league leaders due to injury.

The Pride (13-7, 6-3 CC) have won four of their last five games and are tied for third in the conference.

Widener on Saturday hosts Messiah at 1:00 pm.
