ANNVILLE, Pa. (Women’s Soccer) – The 2014 Commonwealth Conference and Freedom Conference Tournament Championship Game matchups are now set for Saturday, Nov. 8. No. 1 Stevenson will host No. 2 Messiah in the Commonwealth Conference Final, while No. 1 DeSales will host No. 2 Misericordia in the Freedom Conference Final.
Top-seeded Stevenson scored an early goal in the 12th minute from Alexis Siejack and was able to hold on to defeat fourth-seeded Arcadia by a score of 1-0. The Mustangs advance to the Commonwealth Conference Final and will host second-seed Messiah on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Messiah reached the conference championship match after shutting out third-seeded Lebanon Valley by a score of 4-0. Nikki Elsaesser scored two minutes into the match. Erin Sollenberger added a goal in the first and second half, and Olivia Snare scored just before half time.
The Mustangs and Falcons played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw on Oct. 15 in Owings Mills, Md.
Top-seeded DeSales and fourth-seeded King’s played 56 minutes of scoreless soccer before the Bulldogs’ freshman Isabel McPeak found the back of the net in the 57th minute off a corner kick. It was the freshman’s first career goal.
DeSales held on for the 1-0 shutout and will now host second-seeded Misericordia in the Freedom Conference Final on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Cougars reached the conference championship match after shutting out third-seeded Delaware Valley by a score of 6-0. Misericordia scored four times in the first half and twice in the second. Alex Gallagher, Meghan Antrim and Megan Mahoney each scored two goals, while Mahoney added three assists.
DeSales and Misericordia played to a 2-2 double-overtime draw on the final day of the regular season in Center Valley. They will now play for the conference title just one week later.
