Commonwealth, Freedom Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament Fields Set

Stevenson (Commonwealth) and FDU-Florham (Freedom) earn top seeds

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Women’s Basketball) –
The 2014-15 Commonwealth Conference and Freedom Conference Tournament fields have been solidified with the conclusion of conference play on Saturday. The Stevenson Mustangs earned the top-seed in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament, while the Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham Devils earned the top spot in the Freedom Conference Tournament. Action will get underway on Monday, Feb. 23.

COMMONWEALTH TOURNAMENT

Stevenson (21-3, 15-1 Commonwealth) will host the winner of the No. 4 seed/ No. 5 seed game on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. Lebanon Valley (17-8, 8-8 Commonwealth) earned the fourth seed and will host fifth-seeded Arcadia (12-13, 8-8 Commonwealth) on Monday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in the play-in game. The Dutchmen and Knights spit the season series with each team winning on their home court. Lebanon Valley ended the season by giving Stevenson its only conference loss this year to earn the fourth seed.

Albright (19-6, 13-3 Commonwealth) earned the No. 2 seed and will host third-seeded Messiah (13-12, 9-7 Commonwealth) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 in the semifinal round. The Lions won both games against the Falcons this season by an average margin of 10 points.

The Commonwealth semifinal round winners will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Feb. 28. The highest seed remaining will host the title game.

FREEDOM TOURNAMENT

Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (24-1, 13-1 Freedom) will host fourth-seeded Delaware Valley (13-12, 8-6 Freedom) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The Devils defeated the Aggies by a score of 89-52 this afternoon in the final game of the regular-season. The first game between the two teams in January was a 75-67 win for the Devils on the road.

Eastern (21-4, 13-1 Freedom) earned the No. 2 seed and will host third-seeded DeSales (14-11, 8-6 Freedom) on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in the semifinal round. The Eagles defeated the Bulldogs today in the regular-season finale on the road by a score of 73-61. The meeting on Jan. 28 in St. David’s went in favor of Eastern by a score of 76-55.

The Freedom semifinal round winners will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Feb. 28. The highest seed remaining will host the title game.

Admission to the games is set for $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students and children under six-years-old are free. Short-sleeved championship t-shirts will also be on sale at the gate for $15.
