MAC Swimming Championships Set for Feb. 9-12

Championship event returns to Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa.

YORK, Pa. (Swimming) –
The 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships are set for Thursday, Feb. 9 through Sunday, Feb. 12. For a fourth-straight year, the conference championships will be held at Graham Aquatic Center in York, Pa.

Admission prices to the 2017 MAC Swimming Championships can also be found on the championship central page. Fans can purchase tickets at the gate. The ticket price also includes a program and heat sheet.
 
Live results will be available on the central page during the championship. Fans can also follow real time results on the Meet Mobile app, however, these results will be unofficial. Simply search “2017 MAC Championships” in the app.
 
A total of 24 squads from 12 institutions will be competing at the championships, including the men’s and women’s teams from Albright, Arcadia, Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham, Hood, King’s, Lebanon Valley, Lycoming, Misericordia, Messiah, Stevenson, Widener and Wilkes.
 
Widener won the 2016 men’s team title for their 13th overall and first since winning five-straight from 2006-10. Messiah captured the 2016 women’s team title for their third-straight and third overall. The Falcons recorded a women’s conference championship record 832 points.
 
Widener’s senior Ian Gaynor enters the championship with the conference’s only men’s individual NCAA provisional (‘B’ Cut) qualifier. Gaynor holds a national provisional cut in the 50-yard free style with a time of 20.18 seconds.
 
The Pride’s freshman Samantha Zarankin has the conference’s only women’s individual NCAA ‘B’ cut time. Zarankin have a national provisional time in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.04 seconds.

History
Former MAC member Johns Hopkins holds the most combined men’s and women’s titles with 21. The Johns Hopkins men’s program won a total of 18, including 17-straight from 1971-87. Albright and former MAC member Gettysburg have the second most combined titles with 19 titles each. Gettysburg has 14 women’s and five men’s titles. Albright has 10 women’s and nine men’s titles. Widener comes in fourth with 15 combined titles, having 13 men’s and two women’s titles.
