Messiah Locks Up Regular-Season Title, No. 1 Seed in MAC Commonwealth Championship

The Falcons finished regular-season conference slate with an 7-0-1 record (22 points)

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Women’s Soccer) – The Messiah Falcons finished the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) schedule 7-0-1 record to claim the regular-season title and earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Women’s Soccer Championship.

Joining the Falcons at this year’s conference tournament are No. 2 Arcadia, No. 3 Albright, No. 4 Widener and No. 5 Lebanon Valley.

The MAC Commonwealth Championship opens with the No. 4/5 match on Monday, Oct. 29. Fourth-seeded Widener will host fifth-seeded Lebanon Valley at 7 p.m. The Pride and Dutchmen met on Sept. 29 in Annville, where Widener came away with a 1-0 victory.
 
The semifinal round will be played on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Top-seeded Messiah will host the winner of the No.4/5 match at 7 p.m., and second-seeded Arcadia will welcome third-seeded Albright for a 7 p.m. start.

The winners of the semifinal round games will play for the MAC Commonwealth title and the conference’s NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ) on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the highest remaining seed. The game time will be set once the host is determined.

Arcadia and Albright met on Oct. 10 in Reading, where the Knights came away with a 3-2 overtime victory.
 
Messiah defeated both Widener, 6-0, and Lebanon Valley, 4-0, during the regular-season.

Match 1 - No. 5 Lebanon Valley at No. 4 Widener, 7 p.m.

Semifinal Round - Wednesday, Oct. 31
Match 2 - Match 1 Winner at No. 1 Messiah, 7 p.m.  
Match 3 - No. 3 Albright at No. 2 Arcadia, 7 p.m.

Final - Saturday, Nov. 3
Match 4 - Match 2 Winner vs. Match 3 Winner (at Highest Remaining Seed), Time TBD

NOTE: Beginning in 2018-19, the MAC Commonwealth will recognize regular-season titles in baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, field hockey, men’s and women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, and women’s volleyball.
