ANNVILLE, Pa. (Football) – The Centennial Conference and the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) will continue with its postseason bowl series in 2018 for a fourth-straight year with the addition of a third game, it was announced Thursday by the conference commissioners. The Fourth Annual Centennial-MAC Bowl Series will take place on Saturday, November 17 at locations to be determined following the final weekend of regular-season action.
The format of the Centennial-MAC Bowl Series has changed with the additional game. The top seeds, second seeds and third seeds will face each other unless the teams have already played that season. In that case, the commissioners from each conference will determine new pairings. The Centennial Conference will host the top-seed and third-seed games and the MAC will host the second-seed game in even years, and vice versa in odd years.
This season (2018), the bowl games are scheduled for Saturday, November 17. The Centennial Conference (teams) will host the No. 1 seed and No. 3 seed games, while the MAC (team) will host the No. 2 seed game this year.
Ticket prices will be $5 for adults and $2 for students. Special Olympics athletes and children under the age of six are admitted for free.
"The Middle Atlantic Conference and Centennial Conference have developed a great postseason opportunity for our football student-athletes over the past three years, a model that other conferences have emulated,” said Ken Andrews, Executive Director of the MAC. “This year we have added a third game that results from previous success and the prowess of our football teams. Besides the excitement of the conference rivalry, we are proud to support the Division III initiative by contributing a quarter of the gate receipts to Special Olympics."
“The Centennial-MAC Bowl Series has been a tremendous success in its first three seasons and we hope for even more with the expansion to three games in 2018,” said Steve Ulrich, Executive Director of the Centennial Conference. “Our conferences have set high bar with these postseason games that other Division III conferences are attempting to emulate. The Centennial is happy to continue our partnership with our friends in the MAC.”
The MAC has won four of the six bowl series games to date. The Centennial Conference won both games in 2017. Delaware Valley has picked up two of the victories over Moravian (2015) and Muhlenberg (2016), while Stevenson defeated Muhlenberg in 2015 and Albright defeated Franklin & Marshall in 2016.

The two conferences will continue to support the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) partnership with Special Olympics by donating 25 percent of ticket revenue generated during the Bowl Series to the organization. Giving back to local and regional communities not only adds to the comprehensive learning component of Division III, but also provides a venue for passion and service.
NCAA rules permit a conference-sponsored postseason tournament – one between teams that are not identified until the end of the preceding regular season – not to exceed one contest for any one institution.
More information will be available on Sunday, November 11, following the announcement of the 32-team NCAA Division III championship field. Check back at our websites – www.gomacsports.com or www.centennial.org – for all the details.
