Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Conference Partnership

*** (Taken from a Letter from the NCAA Division III SAAC)

The NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is composed of 24 student-athletes representing Division III student-athletes from across the nation. It is a diverse group that has been selected to speak on behalf of fell student-athletes to ensure that all voices are heard within the NCAA governance structure.

A key initiative in our strategic plan is communication. As part of this plan, a partnership program has been implemented in which each member of the SAAC is paired with his or her own conference, as well as a partner conference. This partnership program will serve to ensure there is constant and timely communication between the institution, conference and our committee.

Legislation was passed in 2001 mandating that all conferences have student-athlete advisory committees in order to ensure more direct and frequent communication between campus SAACs and the National SAAC. There ware many successful models for conference SAACs within Division III. There have been SAAC members assigned to each conference. The following information is about the member selected for the MAC. This information is also located on the NCAA Website along with valuable information for student-athletes (www.ncaa.org). Every conference should expect communication in the near future from the conference/partner conference SAAC member. Additionally, they will be meeting at the 2003 NCAA Convention in Anaheim , California . The convention is an excellent time to meet with your conference partner SAAC member and discuss the committee’s position on proposed legislation.
